Ferrari Koenig 308 QV GTS to Feature in Tuners Class at London Concours 2026

London Concours 2026 will showcase one of the most intriguing creations of the 1980s tuning era, as a Ferrari Koenig 308 QV GTS joins this year’s Tuners class sponsored by Adrian Flux.

Originally conceived by German racer and tuner Willy Koenig, the Koenig 308 represents a bold reimagining of Ferrari’s celebrated V8 sports car. Developed at a time when independent tuners were pushing the boundaries of performance and design, the Koenig conversion combined dramatic wide-body styling with significant mechanical upgrades, including turbocharging and bespoke chassis enhancements.

The example set to appear at London Concours has a particularly compelling recent history.

Discovered in Finland in 2015, the car presented a challenging prospect, with clear signs of age, poor previous modifications and mechanical issues. Despite this, closer inspection revealed the hallmarks of a genuine Koenig conversion, including period-correct components such as uprated suspension, AP Racing brakes, BBS split-rim wheels and a Rajay turbocharger system.

Following its acquisition, the car was entrusted to specialists for a comprehensive recommissioning programme. The work focused on returning the car to its original Koenig specification, addressing extensive mechanical and electrical issues, and carefully restoring the turbocharged powertrain.

Retaining its original character while ensuring reliability for regular use was a key priority throughout.

Today, the Koenig 308 delivers approximately 350bhp from its turbocharged V8, offering performance that still feels formidable by modern standards. Notably, the car balances its enhanced power with a surprisingly composed and usable driving experience, reflecting the depth of engineering behind Koenig’s conversions.

After several years of regular use, the car has also undergone a full cosmetic restoration, with bodywork refinished in Ferrari Giallo Fly and panels corrected to reflect the car’s striking original design. The result is a machine that captures both the excess and the innovation of its era, while standing as a highly usable and engaging driver’s car.

As part of the Tuners class, the Ferrari Koenig 308 QV GTS offers a fascinating insight into a period when individuality and engineering experimentation defined a new chapter in automotive culture.

The car will be displayed at London Concours, taking place at the Honourable Artillery Company from 9-11 June 2026.
