London Concours to celebrate the automotive world’s most obscure creations with the ‘Wildcards’ class, presented by Intapp

This year’s edition of the London Concours, running from Tuesday 3rd June to Thursday 5th June at the Honourable Artillery Company, will feature a special class of automotive rarities, ‘The Wildcards’.

Paying homage to the craziest, most innovative and outrageous creations of the automotive world, ‘The Wildcards’ will assemble a line-up of cars that are rarely seen in the world, let alone in the same location.

Leading the way in design and engineering innovation, the experimental Volkswagen XL1 is the result of over a decade’s worth of research and development by the German powerhouse, with just 250 examples ever being produced. Designed to travel 100km on just 1-litre of diesel, the XL1 was dubbed the ‘two-seat spaceship’, in part thanks to its staggering 0.159 drag coefficient, the lowest ever produced by a production car.

Occupying a space at the other end of the automotive spectrum, but equally at home in ‘The Wildcards’ class, is the Peel P50, the world’s legendary microcar of the 1960s. With only 45 examples left in the world, the P50 on display at the London Concours will occupy a small patch of the HAC’s immaculate lawn, measuring in just 1.3m in length, but will certainly boast one of the biggest personalities of the show.

A ‘people’s favourite’, and a unique homologation special, the 1994 Lancia Delta Integrale HF Evo II ‘Giallo Ginestra’ is a celebration of the Italian marque’s Group A rallying heritage. One of just 220 examples produced, this wonderful, limited edition young classic promises to be a real crowd pleaser at the Honourable Artillery Company.

Only 60 examples of the Maserati Ghibli Cup were built back in the 1990s, inspired by the short-lived racing series that featured drivers such as Tiff Needell. With its high-performance 2.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V6, delivering 330bhp, the Ghibli Cup had a higher output per-litre engine that both the Bugatti EB110 and Jaguar XJ220. This particular Ghibli Cup, one of only 26 that made it to the UK was meticulously restored throughout 2023 and 2024.

Andrew Evans, London Concours Director, said: “The Wildcards class as this year’s London Concours promises to be an exciting celebration of the automotive world’s most unique creations. From the cutting-edge to the purely outrageous and wacky, the Wildcards class adds a fascinating dimension of intrigue to our unmissable display at the Honourable Artillery.

“With only a few weeks to go until the London Concours gets underway, we’re excited to continue unveiling the wonderful array of cars that will form this year’s concours. Over 80 cars will make up the central concours, while we will be joined by an additional array of iconic Mercedes, Aston Martins and Supercars across our three daily showcases; there will truly be something for every kind of automotive aficionado.”

This year’s event is held in partnership with Intapp, a leading global provider of AI-powered solutions for professionals at advisory, capital markets, and legal firms.
