The Quintessential British Sports Car: Jaguar XK Comes to London Concours
One of Britain’s most celebrated sports car lineages takes centre stage at this year’s event, as s London Concours dedicates Wednesday 10th June to the icons of the Jaguar XK series.
The XK story is a long and distinguished one. From its groundbreaking debut in the late 1940s through to its modern grand tourer iterations, the series consistently combined elegant design with genuine performance, earning admirers and setting a benchmark for British sporting luxury that few have matched.
Central to the XK’s enduring reputation is its legendary engine, a twin-cam straight-six whose credentials extended well beyond the road, forming the beating heart of the Le Mans-winning C-Type and D-Type racers, underlining just how serious Jaguar’s engineering ambitions were.
On the road, the XK120 arrived as the world’s fastest production car at launch, before the refined XK140 and XK150 broadened the model’s appeal. The modern XKR brought the name into the twenty-first century with power and polish to match its predecessors.
For this display, a curated selection of key models from across the XK’s history will be presented in the grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company, from the original classics of yesteryear to the powerful grand tourers of the modern era, sitting alongside the concours entries as part of the capital’s leading automotive summer party.
