London Concours Crowns Iconic Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio as Best of Show for 2026
The London Concours has crowned a stunning 1976 Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio as its Best of Show winner for 2026, as the capital’s ultimate automotive summer garden party celebrated the opening day of its landmark 10th anniversary edition at the Honourable Artillery Company.
The iconic Lamborghini emerged victorious from an extraordinary field of concours entrants displayed across the lawns of the HAC, with this year’s event bringing together hypercars, rally legends, reimagined classics, dream cars and rare collector machinery in the heart of the City.
The victorious Countach LP400 Periscopio is among the purest and most significant examples of Lamborghini’s seminal supercar. Introduced in 1974 as the first production Countach, the LP400 rewrote the supercar rulebook with its dramatic wedge-shaped styling, scissor doors and unrivalled presence. Penned by Marcello Gandini during his time at Bertone, the Countach became the definitive poster car for an entire generation.

Nicknamed ‘Periscopio’ due to its distinctive roof-mounted rear-view channel, the early LP400 remains the lightest and cleanest interpretation of the Countach concept. Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.9-litre V12 producing 375bhp, the car weighed approximately 1,065kg and was capable of reaching 179mph, astonishing figures for the era.
This exceptional example carries fine provenance and was recently restored by Lamborghini itself. The car continues to be actively enjoyed on European road trips by its current owner; it is not hidden away as a static collector piece.
Day One of London Concours also celebrated Porsche Perfection Day, presented by Boxengasse, with an additional display of exceptional Porsche machinery joining the concours classes across the lawns. The day featured a dedicated Porsche panel discussion, alongside awards presentations recognising standout examples from the marque.

Visitors were also treated to two major automotive unveilings during the day. Boreham Motorworks presented the global public debut of the new Ford Escort Mk1 RS, the first brand-new road-going Escort Mk1 revealed in more than 50 years. Elektron Motors also unveiled its striking new Quasar hypercar publicly for the very first time at the HAC.
Elsewhere throughout the day, guests enjoyed live stage discussions including Talking Hypercars with Apollo Capital, live recordings from Fuelling Around featuring Jack Pegoraro, partner showcases, luxury boutiques, hospitality experiences and a live Smith and Sniff podcast recording in front of a packed audience.
London Concours continues tomorrow with Jaguar XK Day, before concluding on Thursday with Supercar Day and the spectacular Grand Depart.
Andrew Evans, Managing Director of Thorough Events, said: “To celebrate our 10th anniversary with such an extraordinary collection of cars has been incredibly special. The Countach LP400 Periscopio is a truly deserving Best of Show winner, a car that completely changed automotive design and continues to captivate audiences today.
“Day One perfectly captured what London Concours has become over the past decade: not just an exceptional concours event, but a complete celebration of automotive culture in the heart of London. From major global debuts and concours judging to stage discussions, hospitality and live entertainment. It has been a fantastic opening day to the event.”
