London Concours 2026 will showcase one of the rarest and most focused road-going Porsches ever produced as a 964 Turbo S Leichtbau joins the Porsche Sonderwunsch class, presented by Boxengasse.

Displayed on the lawns of the Honourable Artillery Company from 9–11 June, the special car is the last of just 86 964 Turbo S Leichtbau variants produced. It represents a remarkable chapter in Porsche’s Sonderwunsch – or ‘Special Wishes’ – programme, and highlights the marque’s relentless pursuit of lightweight performance engineering.

Introduced in 1992 by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch Department, the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau was the first lightweight Turbo model ever produced by Porsche. Developed as a more extreme evolution of the standard 964 Turbo, the Leichtbau combined significant weight reduction with enhanced performance and chassis upgrades, creating one of the most driver-focused turbocharged 911s of its era.

To reduce weight, Porsche removed features including rear seats, power steering and electric windows, while also reducing sound insulation throughout the car. Lightweight components, including composite panels for the doors, bonnet and rear wing, thinner glass and RS bucket seats, helped make the Leichtbau 180kg (400lbs) lighter than a standard 964 Turbo, at 1290kg.

Performance was also significantly enhanced. The Leichtbau’s turbocharged 3.3-litre flat-six produced 381bhp, an increase of 61bhp over the standard car, thanks to revised camshafts, increased boost pressure and upgraded fuel injection components. Handling improvements included lowered suspension, upgraded brakes, reinforced body structure and distinctive aerodynamic revisions inspired by the Porsche 959.

The example appearing at London Concours is particularly rare. Finished in Grand Prix White with an Exclusive Flamenco Red leather interior, purple wheel centres and gold brake callipers, it is one of just 86 examples produced worldwide and one of only 11 UK-supplied right-hand-drive cars. Significantly, it is chassis number 86, making it the final Leichtbau built.

The Porsche Sonderwunsch class, presented by Boxengasse, celebrates the pinnacle of Porsche personalisation and engineering individuality, bringing together some of the marque’s most exclusive and fascinating creations. Further cars will be announced in the coming weeks.

Alongside the class itself, London Concours will also host the dedicated ‘Porsche Perfection’ day on Tuesday 9 June, a special celebration of Porsche engineering and performance. Porsche owners are still invited to submit their cars for consideration to be displayed as part of the event.

Andrew Evans, Managing Director of Thorough Events said: “The Porsche 964 Turbo S Leichtbau is exactly the sort of car that makes the Porsche Sonderwunsch class so special. It’s exceptionally rare, highly innovative for its era and represents Porsche at its most focused and uncompromising. We’re delighted to be working with Boxengasse this year to showcase some of the most exclusive and fascinating Porsches ever created.”

The London Concours takes place from 9–11 June 2026 at the Honourable Artillery Company. Tickets are available now at londonconcours.co.uk/tickets.
