Celebrating the next generation of automotive classics: London Concours ‘Youngtimers’ class to assemble a display of German motoring icons

This year’s London Concours, running from Tuesday 3rd June to Thursday 5th June at the Honourable Artillery Company, will celebrate the finest automotive creations that resonate with a new generation of automotive enthusiast, with the addition of the ‘Youngtimers’ class.

Bringing together ten of the world’s finest young classics that have been produced in the storied workshops of Germany’s most prestigious marques. Comprising icons of the last half-century, each with their own unique and evergreen style, design and enviable engineering, the ‘Youngtimers’ class will pay homage to those models that have gained popularity amongst a rising generation of car owners and enthusiasts.

Joining the ‘Youngtimers’ class will be the timeless 1994 Alpina B10, a symbol of Bavarian engineering excellence and handcrafting precision. Building on the blueprint of BMW E34 5 Series, the Alpina B10 adds muscular six-cylinder performance and subtle styling enhancements, combining to create a stunning example of refined speed. This particular Alpina B10 has been restored meticulously and is one of just two right-hand-drive examples in the UK.

Another exciting addition to the ‘Youngtimers’ class is the enigmatic Porsche 930 Flatnose, bringing race-going aerodynamics and style to the road. With a front-end inspired by the 935, the 930 Flatnose certainly rejected sports-car conformity while turbocharged performance made it a thrilling beast for drivers to tame. A rebellious icon of Porsche’s turbocharged golden age, the 930 Flatnose promises to be a sight to behold at the London Concours.

Alongside these German icons will sit the eccentrically brilliant 2001 BMW Z3 M Coupe, finished in a striking Laguna Seca Blue, one of only three examples in that particularly eye-catching colourway. A cult classic that has become incredibly popular since its launch, as demonstrated in its use by its current owner, who took ownership 20 years ago and marked its first journey with a two-week tour of Europe.

Andrew Evans, London ConcoursDirector, said: “The London Concours is an unbridled celebration of the world’s finest automotive creations, recognising not only the rarities of the motoring world, but also those models that have become cult favourites among a new generation of enthusiasts.

“A growing trend among young owners in the City has been a penchant for late 20th century and early 21st century German sports and understated yet high-performance cars. This is something that we’re excited to really celebrate at this year’s London Concours, bringing together a display of Germany’s finest motoring exports at the capital’s premier automotive summer garden party.”
